The logo is bright and very simple, but the lighting around the the logo makes it stand out, also the outside of the shop is made from glass to showcase clothes on the models which stand out because they have bright spot lights on them. The shop specialises in men clothes so the title of 'Topman' suits the brand quite nicely given the impression if you buy clothes here you'll be a ''topman''.
3Three Store Plymouth:
The shop has the standard 3Three sign which is known throughout out the world and it's lighted up a bit to attract oncoming customers. The main factor which makes the shop attractive is that the door is the width of the shop and feels very inviting as you walk past. It's also very well lit inside and they also have phones, laptops and tablets on show that you're able to play with with makes the shop even more welcoming. The only thing about this shop is the title doesn't have much relevance to what they sell, it may have something to do with 3G but this isn't very recognisable by the public.
PaperChase Plymouth:
Paperchase's logo is in italics and looks quite original therefore it stands out, also the colourful design around the shops door makes the shop very inviting, it's well lit inside and very colourful due to all the cards on show. The shops name Paperchase does have some relevance to the shop because the shop specialises in cards which are made form paper so hence the name, having this name will also attract more customers because they'll know it's a specialist shop.
Analysis:
Topman - I think Topman is a good brand because their name represents what they're a top brand because the clothes they sell are of a high quality and are designed brilliantly keeping up to date with the latest fashion trend.
Brand Comparison (Sony vs Apple):
Product -
Sony and Apple are very similar brands in the aspect that they sell the same products e.g. phones, laptops, desktops etc. Sony do expand on what Apple sell as they do things like Radios, TV's, Cameras etc. Both brands aim to produce smart and professional designs for all their products. Even though the two companies are similar in many ways they're set out to do different things in the fact that, Apple as a company try to make all their products as user friendly as possible creating their own operating system for their products. Where as Sony have built their company around making their products reliable, so when people buy Sony they know they're going to get a well made product that will be worth their money. They is another difference between the companies is the pricing, Apple have a large price tag on there product but that's down to the image of the company because if someone buys one of their products it gives the buyer a sense of highness because they now have something to brag about like having a iPhone, iPad etc. The brand Sony is a lot cheaper but they still manage to give their products the look of an expensive product.
Store -
Apple stores are very well lit and are designed to look a million pounds which gives a sense of amazement when walking into one of their shops, they also have everything out on show clearly giving customers a chance to try products before buying them. Where as Sony give their shop a homely feel with dim lighting around the shop and bright lights to highlight their products around the store, Sony also give you a hands on experience with their products but not as big range as Apple do with theirs which is probably to do with Sony's huge product range.

Selling In The Sixties (America):
Life In The Sixties:
People described America as the land of the plenty and you was guaranteed happiness if you were white with a bit of money as the civil rights movement had really only just started to happen where black people were allowed their voting rights and discrimination would be reduced significantly. The movement of architecture also reflected of american life as big skyscrapers and other fancy buildings were being built which shows what life was like for the standard white american at the time; rich in prosperity. Although life seemed all great in the sixties with music, television, fashion etc. all on the rise there was other things going on in the background like the Vietnam war and Cuban missile crysis.
Development Of Advertising:
One of the he main movements of the advertising in the sixties was the invention of the computer although is was not invented in the sixties the programs had finally been made for the computers where people could create designs from the computer (Computer Aided Design; CAD) which was first used by Cadilac to design parts for their cars. Another major movement in the advertisement industry in the sixties was the invention of the cartridge loading Super 8 movie camera which allowed companies to record commercials for television as advert breaks were made between programs. Personal radio devices also contributed to the advertising movement as people could take their radio out and about with them, therefore they would be listening to more radio which lead to them listening to more advertisements.
How Are Products Being Advertised/Sold:
Products were being advertised through big billboards which were being placed on the fancy buildings, these billboards would have pictures of the product that the companies were selling e.g. Cadillac would have their car with a pretty woman and man showing their desire for the product, they would put slogans on the adverts like 'Elegance In Action' which is what Cadillac built their brand around as Cadillacs were always big luxury cars. Companies would also enhance the power of celebrities to promote their products like The Beatles would were a companies designs and the people they perform to etc. would see what they were wearing want would want to buy their products, they were also starting to use celebrities in TV commercials e.g. Barbara Streisand starred in the Vat 69 Scotch advert.
How Advertising Has Change Since The Sixties:
Due to the advances in technology since the sixties advertisements have become a lot more fascinating to watch mainly due to the advances in technology like computers and there programs e.g. 3D Modelling, which has opened a completely different world to advertisements as you're able to pretty much reconstruct anything. Another technology that has helped advertisements is the video camera, video camera have been continuously been getting better since the sixties now when you watch an advert in 1080p it is crystal clear compared to filming in the sixties. Also the advances in technology have made the product the advertisers are seller better as well e.g. cars can be 3D modeled before they're put into production instead of being drawn like they used to be therefore designs are more precise these days allowing products to really stand out in adverts. Also probably one of the most crucial points to the change of advertising was the development of the internet because now more people spending browsing stuff on the internet looking at social networks and watching videos rather than watching TV, which opened up a huge open advertising market for companies to advertise their products before videos start on youtube, banner adverts on facebook etc.
Coca Cola 60's - Present:
Coca Cola 60's Commercial -
Coca Cola 2012 Commercial -
Comparison:
These two adverts clearly show the advances in technology, as you can in the 60's one the filming is dark and dingy and slightly pixelated, whereas the 2012 it has been made using a 3D modelling program such as Maya, 3DS Max or Cinema 4D and rendered out in HD quality. It also shows that with the advances of the technology they're able to make the unreal become real because you're never going to be able to see a snowbear juggle a coke bottle around.
